Windsor Serviced Apartments

A small yet popular town, Windsor located some 21 miles west of Charing Cross is one of the favourite gateways of the British Royalty. A quaint and charming town which is located south of the River Thames, there are many things one can do when staying in a Windsor service apartment. Some of these popular things to do are:

Take a tour of the Windsor Castle – A part of the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle has been opened to the public. These include the State Apartments, St George's Chapel, Queen Mary's Dolls House and the Drawings Gallery featuring an exhibition. During winter months five more rooms, known as the Semi-State Rooms are also opened to the public. Visitors can also opt for a guided tour of the royal kitchen. However, do note that tours to the kitchen and state apartments need to pre-booked and that the castle closes an hour before the last entry which is 1600 hours from March to October and 1500 hours from November to February. Check http://www.windsor.gov.uk for more details.

See the Change of Guard at Windsor Castle- Accompanied by a band, the change of guard takes place around 11:00 am daily from April to the end of July. And then on alternate days (except Sundays & weather permitting and). Be there before 11 am if you don’t want to miss the event and to get the best seats. For the record, the best view is from the Corn Exchange of the Guildhall.

Visit the Eton College - Opened to visitors during the months from April to October; this one hour guided tours will take you through the School Yard, College Chapel, The Cloisters, and the Museum of Eton Life. Do note that tours need to be pre booked in advance.

Go on an Open Top Bus City Tour - For a city, Windsor has many hidden gems as well as popular sights to behold. The best way to discover these is to go on a city tour atop an open top Double Decker buses that will pick you up outside the Castle, by Queen Victoria Statue. A hop on, hop off service, tickets can be purchased online or from the tour bus driver and are valid for 24 hours.

Enjoy a walk along the River Thames - You can enjoy a lovely stroll along the river or take a boat ride on the river Thames.

In addition to these, visitors can also pay a visit to Legoland, an amusement park popular with the kids, the Savill Gardens and Windsor Gardens and Runnymead. And don’t worry much as how to reach these places from your holiday home as most of these holiday flats are not far from the nearest bus and rail station and one can easily get a taxi too
