Besides the wide rooms, price and privacy factor, the convenience of inviting friends and colleagues and exploring the city at one’s sweet time is a something which is entirely unique and is often an important motivation for those wishing to visit Munich as the option of exploring the city and some of its features for free.

Some of the few things to do that one can do for free are

Rathus Glockenspiel - Situated in the heart of Munich in Marienplatz is Glockenspiel, a beautiful carillon that is over 100 years old. Housed in the New Town hall and dating back to the 19th century, the fame of the Glockenspiel lies in the re enactment of several scenes from the Bavarian history. Crowds of people gather here every day around 11 pm, noon and 5pm to see and listen these chimes that last from at least 15 minutes. The end of the show is always marked by a golden bird that chirps 3 times to mark the end of the day’s event.

The Church of Our Lady - Dominating the Munich skyline is the Church of Our Lady, one of the city’s several landmarks whose twin domed towers can be seen for miles. This late gothic cathedral towers over other building in the Marienplatz and is known to have one of the largest halls in southern Germany and a baroque styled altar that can seat around 4000 people. When at cathedral, make sure to climb the south tower from where you can get a wonderful view of the city and the nearby Alps.

The Theaterinerkirche or Theatine Church - built in the 17th century in a high-Baroque style, the Theatine Church designed by the Italian architect Agostino Barelli and built by Elector Ferdinand Maria and his wife, Henriette Adelaide of Savoy, as a gesture of thanks for the birth of the long-awaited heir to the Bavarian crown, Prince Max Emanuel is characterised by a 71 m high dome, white stucco decoration and altars housing the paintings of of Caspar de Crayer, Carlo Cignani, George Desmareés and Joachim Sandrart.

Apart from these, there are several other attractions like Viktualienmarkt, Munich Residence Palace, Field Marshall Hall etc which one can visit for free. Most of these attractions are not far from your holiday apartment. Simply check with your apartment owner as to how to go about it to enjoy a fun filled Munich holiday.
