Origin of the London Jazz Festival

The beginnings of the London Jazz Festival can be traced back to the now defunct Camden Jazz Festival of the 1970’s. Once an entirely north London festivity, the jazz festival took a new direction in the 1990’s when the Arts Council England, London took over. New changes were introduced into the festival with the event made to encompass the entire London city and the event month being moved from May to November. Besides the live show, workshops and master-classes are the other features which have led to the popularity of the event. Now in its 21st edition the festival has grown in stature to emerge as a major international jazz event occupying a special place in the hearts of the musicians as well as jazz enthusiasts both of whom have made it a not to be missed event in their calendar.

Catch all the Action at........

As an initiative to popularise jazz amongst the masses and to pull in a mixed crowd, the organisers of the festival decided to make the festival a Pan London event with the result that the festival is now held across every nook and corner of London at over 50 odd venues. These venues include large concert halls as well as small jazz clubs and can be found near to some of the choicest holiday apartments in London and in areas as varied as Camden, Fulham, Shoreditch, Greenwich etc. The best thing about these venues is that as most of them are close to the tube or rail stations you did not worry about how to reach there and few holiday apartment ideas for those who plan to stay during London Jazz Festival 2013
