Its Samba Time in Goa during Goa Carnival

Its Party time!!!!!!!!!

Break free from the rigours of work and head towards Goa for the time of your life...coz its Carnival time

Every February, people from all over the world including India head towards the popular holiday destination of Goa to participate in what has been described as one of the state’s most amazing festival- The Goa Carnival. An annual event that lasts for roughly 3-4 days, the festival, organised a few days before the holy month of Lent is all about enjoying oneself through dance, music and merriment. During these three- four days, the streets of Goa wears a festive look with nonstop music, dance and parades.

Such is the ambience that tourists actually plan their Goa vacations to coincide with that of the carnival. This year the carnival is being held from 9th to 12th feb and it is believed that around a million people will be visiting Goa solely for this purpose. And to ensure that everyone gets a place to stay and to partake in the merriment that tourist department of Goa along with its local populace had made available several holiday apartments and homes just for this purpose.

Show Organized

Besides the floats and the parades, a series of other events have also been organised by the carnival authorities. This includes a fashion show by the well known Goan designer Wendell Rodrigues and a rock concert where the likes of Remo, Anushka Manchanda, Parikrama, Indian Ocean & Agnee along with actor- director Farhan Akhtar will make you groove to their music.

Food and Culture Festival

Also organised in tandem with the carnival is the Food and Cultural festival which is been organised to popularise Goan food. A few other states have also been invited to partake in this festival. This 5 day festival will start a day prior to the Carnival at Caranzalem, Panaji.

Carnival and Kumbh-2 different facets of India

If you are in Goa for the carnival and have a few days to spare, we suggest that you pack your bags and head straight to North India especially to Allahabad for the grand Maha Kumbh Mela. Viewed as one the biggest gathering of people on earth, a visit to the Maha Kumbh will introduce to you another facet of India – one that is entirely different from the carnival in terms of tone and character. Unlike the carnival which is full of fun and frolic, the Kumbh mela has more of a religious connotation and involves the washing off one’s sin from the throes of reincarnation.

If you want to know what really happens at the mela, we suggest that you head off to Allahabad at the very first instance to experience it firsthand. And don’t worry about accommodation. There are plenty of hotels and short lets in and around Allahabad to accommodate last minute visitors.

For the record, the Maha Kumbh will go on till 10th March, so you have ample time to plan where you want to be in the next few days post the carnival. If not the Carnival, then maybe....

If the Kumbh Mela does not hold your fancy, then may you can think of visiting some of these amazing Indian destinations:

Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida - Also known as Delhi-NCR, the region is known for its various cultural events and festivals as well as a pulsating nightlife. If clubbing is what you seek than a stay in one of the serviced apartments located at Noida and Gurgaon is recommended. And if it is history and heritage with a dose of special movie screenings, classical music concerts and theatre shows, then there is no better place than Delhi. Also, the fact that the city acts as a transit zone to other popular tourist destinations like Agra and Rajasthan is another reason for it popularity.

Rajasthan - If you want to experience what real hospitality is all about then a visit to Rajasthan is must. No one believes in Athithi Devo Bhava (Guest is God) more than those from Rajasthan. Rajasthan is one of the few states where you will still find the culture and traditions of India firmly intact and there is no better way to experience it other than staying in one of the numerous homestays and holiday homes that have been opened for the tourists.

Bangalore- Known as an IT hub, there is more to Bangalore than meets the eye. The city known as the ‘pub capital of India’ has its own share of attractions and is famously known for its underground music scene.

Kerala - The most popular holiday destination after Goa, Kerala is a literally a tropical paradise with its beautiful backwaters, sunny beaches, rugged mountainous terrain and ayurveda. Unlike Goa, Kerala is much more serene and will make you want to stay there forever.
