About the area The area of Barbican is part of the historic City of London, Europe's leading financial district, where guests will find some of London's most notable landmarks, such as St Paul's Cathedral, Monument and the Royal Exchange. Barbican is widely known for its architecture, commerce and its pioneering role in the performing arts field. It is here where guests will find The Barbican, the largest venue for varied forms of art, music, film and dance. It is also home to the London Symphony Orchestra. To the east of Barbican, guests will find the fashionable area of Shoreditch, which brims with quirky shops, cocktail bars and a bevy of trendy restaurants and cafés, attracting visitors from far and wide. London's oldest market, Spitalfields, is a stone's throw away and offers an eclectic mix of stalls and shops, from clothing by local designers to some of the most delicious street food around. The area is superbly connected with transport links offering a variety of overground and underground travel options. The nearby Liverpool Street Station provides access to the Central, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City London Underground lines, as well as National Rail services. Barbican is the closest Tube station to the apartment, which operates on the Circle, Hammersmith and Metropolitan lines. Around the block The area is teeming with popular bars and restaurants, but for something a little different, visit the Breakfast Club Cafe in Spitalfields at 12-16 Artillery Lane. If you ask for The Mayor, you'll be shown through the door of a white Smeg fridge and down a staircase to an American speakeasy called The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town, where you can enjoy delicious cocktails and great burgers.
